At home / Heat + cold

A contrast layout for a two-car garage

Contrast at home is a walk between heat and cold, not two appliances stacked in a corner. A two-car garage is the space class that usually has the width for a cabin, a tub, and a dry path that does not cross the electrical panel.

Who this class fits

  • A two-car (or larger) garage you can give up a bay on, or park around.
  • People whose daily habit is heat then cold, not a single machine.
  • Households willing to plan drainage and a dedicated circuit before ordering.

Skip this class if

  • Closet or spare-room only. Contrast needs splash control that living rooms rarely have.
  • You cannot spare a walkway. Do not pin a tub against a breaker panel.

The space class, not a floor plan

A typical US two-car garage is wide enough for a small sauna cabin on one side, a barrel or chilled tub on the other, and a center walk that stays dry enough to be safe. Exact inches depend on the cabin and the tub you actually buy — ThriveHop does not invent a layout for a SKU.

Keep water downhill from the electrical panel. Keep a path that does not require stepping over cords. If you still park in the other bay, treat vehicle doors and exhaust as constraints, not afterthoughts.

Match the pair to the panel

120V-only garage: infrared cabin plus an ice-fed barrel is the usual pair. You avoid a 240V heater and often avoid a chiller. You still should not share a single overloaded garage receptacle with both.

If you can add 240V: a traditional heater plus a chilled tub is the higher-draw pair. That is two dedicated circuits in many installs, plus lighting. Have an electrician read the panel before you pay deposits.

Water, vapor, and winter

Unconditioned garages swing from hot to below freezing. Water lines, chillers, and wood cabins all care. A floor drain or a pump-out is the difference between a daily habit and a mold project.

This is not a building permit. Insulation, vapor barrier, and exhaust are installer and local-code questions. ThriveHop is matching a class of layout, not signing off on yours.
